In the beginning it was the sports pages but soon all media took over with the million dollar question everywhere, who’s going to break the nine seconds record! And if somebody does, however inhuman this might be, manage to break the record there will be no laurel waiting in the finishing line or the birth city will put down the walls like it happened in the ancient times. It will be million and millions of dollars. The contemporary Olympic spirit!
Since 1936 there is nothing pure about the Olympic Games, there is the leader, the dictator, the regime, the war, the drugs, the money, coca cola, HP and money, money , money! There is Marion Jones, there is Ben Johnson and more drugs and more money. That’s it. And I don’t care if the Olympics happening in Athens or London. Is an event that has nothing to do with athletics and the spirit of the Olympic Games organized by the most corrupt organization on earth making even the Hollywood mafia pale.
I want to write much more but I think the best thing I have to do is remind you the Olympic hymn and ask you if the sports reality show you watch on your new television – special promoted for the Olympics – has anything to do with it.
O Ancient immortal Spirit, pure father of beauty, of greatness and of truth, descend, reveal yourself and flash like lightning here, within the glory of your own earth and sky. At running and at wrestling and at throwing, shine in the momentum of noble contests, and crown with the unfading branch and make the body worthy and ironlike. Plains, mountains and seas glow with you like a white-and-purple great temple, and hurries at the temple here, your pilgrim, O Ancient immortal Spirit, every nation
And now enjoy the Olympic adverts while eating your Olympic television food and drink your Olympic cola! O tempora o Olympic mores
