“Slayer meets Meshuggah, with dark melodies entwined with a pseudo-philosophical lyrical concept. Just plain crushing, with some trashy elements. Jazzy nightclub scenes covered in velvet,” lists Coma of Loss as some of their influences. Coma of Loss is a strangely rhythmic, yet melodic metal band from Tampere, Finland, and they are plugging their new demo wherever they can. They are yet to give any live performances or sign to a record label, but they are just starting out on the road to stardom. The songs are in English and the lyrics seem to have been influenced by Nietzsche and other philosophers, so pay attention. The name is taken from a Philip H. Anselmo (former Pantera vocalist) open internet letter, in which he told about his feelings losing a former band mate Darrell "Dimebag" Abbott (Pantera guitarist). In his letter he wrote: I've been stumbling around in a COMA OF LOSS. The letter is here: www.philanselmo.com The band was founded by Tomi Toivonen, who plays guitar, as a one-man project under the name “Naked” in 1999. In 2000, he joined forces with Harri Suominen (vocals) and things were quiet until the end of 2003, when they finally found their drummer, Mika Nieminen, who had the skills to play their twisted metal mayhem.
