This is to inform that Franck Biancheri, who has been the first and funding president of AEGEE Europe, and has largely contributed to the launching of the Erasmus programme, and Newropeans, the first trans-European political movement for the democratisation of the EU, are organising 250 conferences in European universities to discuss the future of European education policy and European integration amongst European students.

Philippe Portalier, VP in charge of Translation will be in Helsinki on October 12th.

This initiative is part of the 2007 Newropeans Democracy Marathon which will consist of 500 conferences throughout Europe this year. The aim is to get citizens involved into the debate on the future of the EU and to discuss their expectations. 250 of these conferences are being organised with students to celebrate the 20th birthday of the Erasmus programme – to think about its future! This Erasmus operation is called Erasmus 20.

Find out more on the Marathon, here.

This operation will have large media coverage as they are all well informed of this whole operation, as well as through our own media (website, www.newropeans-magazine.org, blogs network) and systematic press contacts.

If you are interested in getting your University involved in this unique trans-European project, and would like to organise a conference at your university, or if you need further information, please contact me David Carayol at: erasmus20@newropeans.eu

We would be happy to give you more information about the Erasmus 20 operation.

Newropeans is the first trans-european political movement. Its aim is to democratise the EU and its institutions.
Take a look at Newropeans 16 proposals to democratise the EU. See here

In the meantime Newropeans members are putting a 'traditional political' programme together through our intranet where every member can take part in the debates, and also participate in our biannual general assemblies which take place in different EU countries. Each year until 2009 we'll tackle diverse issues through our debates, the three issues last year were Education, a European Government and Immigration, the fourth issue presently in debate is 'a European Foreign Policy'.
