November 15th, 2022 marked something historically and environmentally significant, earth population reached 8 billion. Let’s see what other numbers peak. 1.2 billion people live in extreme poverty globally; nearly 100 million of them live in dangerous for their life situations. Every single day somewhere in this 8 million souls globe, 14.200 children under the age of 5 die due to poverty, lack of food, settler, medication, or ...clean water.

More numbers? The global extinction rate in the animal kingdom is calculated at up to 8,700 species a year, or 24 a day and natural resources are dying with oil in a few years counting not in barrels but in drops. There are far more interesting numbers, but ...who counts.

And whilst this is just a peak of the numbers nothing has change regarding the constantly melting iceberg, global warming. On the contrary things are getting worse and yes, nuclear power is back trending thanks to man-greed-stupidity -made wars and humanity’s need to charge ...mobile phones, tablets, social media and likes.

But no worries, our leadership met in Egypt and solve all our problems. They condemn Russia for the invasion to Ukraine staging more sanctions. All that in a country ruled by an authoritarian butcher, with no respect to human rights, freedom of speech, freedom of press, women’s rights and only real faith into constant and unlimited corruption. Sadly Charles III could not participate!

Let’s see how I can put it mildly. If there was any care about the environment left in United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris back in 2015, it was brutally and live covered on social media murdered in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, in 2022. R.I.P. earth.
Ave Mundus, humanitas te salutant and thanks for all the fish!

COP21 in Paris was the last UN climate convention I participated and the choice to stop was fully conscious. I felt that this was not a conference for action to save the planet but an enforced (also called bullying) political compromise to calm US, EU, Japanese and Australian industrialists and their cronies in all the political spectrum from the demands of the Kyoto protocol. It was a defeat for the environment and the future of this planet veiled with a lot of bravado and likes in the social media. And then came Trump who legitimised all kind of science deniers and COP 23 in Bonn where COP became the joke for all kind of flat earthiness.

Nowadays, COP 27 barely made international headlines leaving plenty of space to hypocrites authoritarians like the Greek PM, Kyriakos ‘Koulis’ Mitsotakis to make a self-promotion show and talk about ....green economy!

They also pompously talked about the need global cooperation. Right. Wait and see how this works. Putin hugs Zelensky, Erdogan  sends Instagram heart emojis to the Kurds, Xi dances disco in Tiananmen Square, Trump voluntarily builds windmills while pink elephants will parade cross London streets and unicorns will fly all over Tehran.

But hey, no worries here, we are all fine; 'most' leaders set to condemn Ukraine war and Zelensky outlines Ukraine's peace plan while EU is drafting new sanctions, Hungary’s very authoritarian Orban can veto. In the meantime kids die. Let me say it again, every single day somewhere in this 8 million souls globe, 14.200 children under the age of 5 die due to poverty, lack of food, settler, medication, or ...clean water.

While the Earth is dying, COPs and other politician and celebrities' shows about the environment are dead and COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh just verified it. There is no time for thoughts and prayers any more, now is time for action, otherwise... Ave Mundus, humanitas te salutant and thanks for all the fish!
