Osama Bin Laden is said to be preparing to release a video message to the American people to coincide with the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The announcement was made on an Islamist website, where al-Qaeda's media arm frequently posts messages.

Plans for a Christmas DVD are still unconfirmed.

Facial yoga classes in Manhattan, New York, are proving to be very popular among women trying to tone their muscles.

In the UK we call making faces 'gurning', yet I guess you could rebrand it and sell it as an alternative therapy. Marketing genius.

Posh Spice Victoria Beckham will be hoping not to win her latest award nomination - one half of funniest double act alongside husband David. The pair are up for the prize, from lads' magazine Loaded, based on their attempt to conquer the US.

Oh come on! England fans have been laughing at the Beckhams for years, so why has it taken so long for an award to be bestowed upon them?

In an interview promoting his latest film 1408, John Cusack told The Guardian newspaper that he's made 10 good films: The Sure Thing, Eight Men Out, Say Anything, The Grifters, Bullets Over Broadway, Grosse Pointe Blank, The Thin Red Line, Being John Malkovich, High Fidelity and Max.

Hang on there, John! What about Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Pushing Tin, Serendipity, Must Love Dogs, America's Sweethearts and let's not forget the fantastic Con Air – "Do you understand me, or do you need me to draw it in crayon, like usual?"

Popular social networking site Facebook has added a public-facing search function in a move which is likely to anger privacy advocates. The function will initially allow anyone who is not registered with the site to search for a specific person.

If you are so concerned about privacy why did you join the site in the first place? I haven't had a moment's peace with everybody inviting me to join the Ninjas, the Pirates, the Vampires or battles between them.

Evidence that mobile phones can interfere with vital intensive care equipment has been strengthened. More than half the hospital ventilators tested by Dutch researchers stopped working properly when a mobile was switched on nearby. The UK government has said current bans on the use of mobile phones in hospitals can be relaxed.

I full-heartedly agree that mobile phones should be switched off in hospital, especially when surgeons are operating.

Search teams are continuing to scour the deserts of north-west Nevada for missing US adventurer Steve Fossett amid increasing fears for his safety. There has been no word from Mr Fossett since the 63-year-old was seen taking off from a private airfield near Yerington, Nevada, on Monday evening.

I hope he is found safe and well soon; he is one of the great adventurers of our time.

Parents have been warned of the effects of food additives on their children's behaviour after new research found a possible link to hyperactivity. A Food Standards Agency (FSA) study of 300 random children found they behaved impulsively and lost concentration after a drink containing additives.

Does that also explain why so many adults also behave impulsively and lose concentration... What was I saying?

Tomorrow is Star Trek Day…
