A hot desert wind
Blew orange sand
Up in swirling eddies
Dancing across the desert
Under a stark clear blue sky.

525_desertwind_400Rusted blades
Of a desert windmill
Creaked in the wind
And a weather vane
Twirled on top of
An old abandoned
Cattle station
In the middle of
The outback,

A lizard lay
Under the shade
Of a rock sleeping,
And tumbleweeds
Rolled across
The desert floor
Scraping this
Red landscape.

It was an
Ancient land
Vast and wide
And the only
Witnesses to
The majesty of
The desert were
 A rusted windmill,
A weather vane
And a lizard.

As a kaleidoscope
Of orange, red,
Purple and yellow
Colours washed
Over the land
Playing like a
Symphony as the
Sun slowly fell
Over the horizon.
