Our poor friend is still in bed uncder the covers? Could that be his punishment? Who said "Those people are neither hot nor cold and I shall vomit them out of my mouth"? It is written somewhere on stone, or paper or on one's heart. And how do we know our friend has a heart beating under the covers? Could he be a robot? Be that as it may, his case is quite desperate: a sort of catch 22: if he does not get our of bed he will never learn to read. If he does not learn to read he will never learn the rules so he can get out of bed and live life to the fullest without fear of punishment from the gods and perhaps read Lucretius De Rerum Natura to convince himself that there are no punishing gods. He will forever remain in limbo. Wait a minite, that too has been declared non existent by the Catholic Church. An ax to grind here? I can hear a knight getting his horse ready. Life is funny; so the advice to our friend should be: don't worry be happy: there are plenty of basket cases out there.
