Shamanistinen karnevaali commedia dell'arten poljentoon.

Kalevalan arkkityypit ja taianomaiset tarinat ovat Teatteri metamorfoosin esityksen Kalevala dell'Arten innoittajia. Esitys toteutetaan italialaisen naamioteatterin commedia dell'arten keinoin eli akrobatia, pantomiimi, tanssi ja laulu ovat esityksen keskeisiä elementtejä.

Commedia dell'arte on hengästyttävä tyylilaji, joka vaatii esiintyjiltä nopeaa toimintaa, tarkkaa naamiotekniikan hallintaa ja ennen kaikkea hulvatonta heittäytymistä arkkityyppien eläimelliseen maailmaan. Esityksessä yhdistyvät suomalaiskansallinen pyhä, tummanpuhuva maagisuus sekä italialainen kepeys, nopeus ja hahmojen lihallisuus.

Teatteri Metamorfoosilla on kunnia saada tehdä yhteistyötä kahden italialaisen commedia dell'arte mestarin kanssa; Carlo Boso toimii esityksen dramaturgisena tutorina ja Stefano Perocco suunnittelee ja valmistaa esityksen nahkanaamiot.

Monikulttuurisen työryhmän myötä esityskielinä ovat suomi, englanti, ranska ja italia. Kärryillä pysyy, vaikkei ymmärtäisi näistä yhtäkään, sillä tarinaa kuljetetaan eritoten fyysisellä tasolla naamioilmaisua, tanssia ja akrobatiaa hyödyntäen.

I might I have learned a Finnish word today: kalevala, which by itself I would surmised as some kind of esoteric European coffe, but obviously means "comedy." Something always rubs off. It triggered other musings:that indeed language is metaphorical and to try to reduce it to mere logic and mathemathics is to have lost the sense of the poetic. I understood nothing else, other than some kind of performance of Commedia dell'Arte is being performed some place in Finland. We do live in a global village! I have a nephew who directs ancient Greek plays in ancient Greek theaters all over the Mediterranean world. Rationalists (those who posit the false premise of modernity vs. antiquity) think him a bit mad. Indeed, in a tupsy turvy world sanity and spontaneity may turn out to be the exceptions, not the rule. Viva la commedia dell'arte.

I really enjoyed the show today. It was a brilliant idea to join commedia dell' arte and Kalevala, they seem to match perfectly. Great acting, also costumes and music set the right mood. I am studying Finnish and was happy that I understood a lot, but of course it helped that I had read Kalevala previously in Slovene translation. Congratulations again!
