He still looks like a movie and moves like a song throughout my entire being. Rob, he was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. No one had ever touched me, my heart the way he did.

All he did was hold me tightly in his arms.

All he ever had to do was look at me.

man0001_400All it took was to hear his voice.

All it ever took was seeing him looking at me, a boyish smile on his face.

It was enough for me but I knew it wasn’t enough for him. He wanted more from me, but I did not know what that was, what that meant. I was a child, a girl. He was a man. Rob was a powerful, loving man who cared deeply about the people whom he let into his world, into his life.

He understood me better than I even knew myself. It was as if he could read my mind, hear my thoughts. He made me feel safe. He made me laugh. He accepted me. Most of all I think he let me be myself, laugh at myself. He made me forget all about my pain that came from childhood. He didn’t make false promises. He didn’t promise me that he would heal me. He just did.

I loved the way he walked tall in the world. I loved the way he spoke. I loved the way he combed his hair. I loved the ease that he exhibited, his confidence. He didn’t need an entourage.

Of course, women loved him. It was easy to fall for him for girls I mean, and for them to call that love. But he was also a man’s man. He smoked Lucky Strike cigarettes and wore cowboy boots. Rob looked like some kind of Blake Shelton.

Rob was very sexy, very tall, very confident, very caring and protective about the people in his life. He offered me love and affection and in return I adored him and there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t do for him.

Our time together was short-lived. Life had other plans for us. We weren’t meant to be together then perhaps. We had to grow through the illusion of our pain. He had pain too. Rob too was a broken man.

Rob saved from drowning in the sea. I want you to know that.

Rob, angel, Rob, warrior you saved me from drowning. That it was your devil may care attitude that kept my head about water. You took my youth, turned me from a girl into a woman with just your arm around my waist making me feel special.

You taught me that love is the answer.
