Global Visions Film Screening

Join us for an unforgettable evening of entertainment, enlightenment and popcorn! The Global Visions Film Screening takes place at the Shaw Conference Centre on August 2. After the film ends, there’ll be a panel discussion which will include the film’s director. We’re currently exploring a number of different film possibilities, and will make an official announcement once the details have been finalized.

Open Mic Night

300 seconds. Five minutes. 1/12 of an hour. Whatever way you slice it, that’s how much stage time you have to wow the world during open mic night. You wanna sing? You wanna dance? You wanna speak? No prob. The spotlight will be shining on you. To set the mood for the evening, Ember Swift will be in the house to perform.

GYA Finale

All good things must come to an end, even the Global Youth Assembly. We’ll be finishing up in fine style during the GYA Finale at Edmonton Heritage Days, on the Heritage Festival Amphitheatre. The performance presentation, for both Assembly attendees as well as the general public, will focus on key themes from the event, such as social consciousness, empowerment and respect for diversity. We hope the audience will leave energized and ready to ignite change in their communities both at home and abroad! Don’t miss musical performances including Edmonton’s own reggae band, Souljah Fyah, the rhythmic dancing, and the keynote speakers.

Here’s a brief background on the Edmonton Heritage Festival, the location for the GYA Finale. The 2007 edition of the Festival marks the 32nd consecutive year of this premier showcase of Canada's vibrant multicultural heritage. The three-day event features over 50 pavilions representing over 60 cultures from all over the world. Sample culinary delicacies, see creative performances, shop for crafts, artwork and clothing, or chat with people eager to tell you a little about their cultural roots and their present-day communities in Canada.
