"Do you want to elect someone who employs PAEDOPHILES as a governor? A vote for Marsh is a vote for PAEDOPHILES!" This is not a real advert for the mid-term elections, but, depressingly, it is not too far from the truth.

Being British, I'm used to election advertising being dirty, but here it's not so much as being dirty as being libellous. So much so, that it's almost impossible to tell why you should vote for anyone. In fact, I haven't actually heard any promotion advertising explaining why people should vote for them and not the other candidate.

Here's an example of adverts against the opposing candidate.

And the other guy:

See what I mean? "Vote Blagojevich, vote ALIENS TAKING OVER THE WORLD AND SEX TERRORISM!"

I'm sorry, but that's not a democracy. The American people don't have a real choice. They are either right wing or fake left wing, which is no different to the right wing, but they are a bit keener on helping workers and gay people. Obviously, the fake left wing party is the better option. Sadly, the people out in Jesusland don't see it that way and foolishly think that a vote for the right is a vote for God.

Personally, I can't think of a more moral less act than to vote Republican. But that's not just me.

Now, as I'm not a citizen here, I have no right to vote, so I'm doing my best to influence other people's vote, which has been disappointingly easy as everyone in New York votes Democrat anyway. However, after spending three weeks in Long Island, I'm now being sent to Nashville, TN. I'm sure there's many sheep that need herding back to the flock there that I can shepherd.

My tactic to get them to come round? That's easy. It's going to be scare tactics all round.

I'm just going to stand outside of modern churches (of which there are plenty in the south) and scream, "Voting Republican is evil and God will hate you for it!"

OK, I admit that it's no better than the electoral adverts, but it'll be a hell of a lot of fun and could technically be classed as an extreme sport. I could even make some dollars out of the idea and what could be more American than that?

And what could be more American than being jailed for disturbing the peace, even if disturbing the peace is the moral thing to do?

And watch out for Homeland Security!

I wouldn't say that British campaign are obviously dirty like those two YouTube videos. There is some etiquette, some, not a lot, but the political party broadcasts are usually clean-cut affairs.

It seems that we must thank Rob for standing outside churches and encouraging voters to put an X in the democrat box. Well done, Rob!
