Already the Republicans are attacking --- and promoting defeat of health care reform. Now would be the time for President Obama to come forth and act as a true leader --- a Leader of both the Nation and the Democrat Party. If he doesn’t do it now then his term will end just as Carter’s did. Regarding Healthcare: Now is the time for the President to fight back with his own proposal, and shape a Medicare for All bill with a single payer. At the very least, this should have been the goal from the beginning. Ironically, the recent election in Massachusetts has given him the perfect opportunity to start anew. e.g. “Since the present healthcare bill is doomed by the most recent election results in Massachusetts, I will propose a new bill before Congress. This new bill will be written by the White House and it will provide Medicare for All ……” As to that ever happening, (a sad laugh)…..Here’s the missing ingredient so far --- Courage! Who will have the Courage to do what’s right and not suckle up to the milk of lobbyists. That is the question. We found out that no one had the Strength to defend what’s right. And Wisdom? Come on, we all know what’s right and what’s actually going on. But where’s the Courage to say no more, and do no more…? Yet, ironically, under this new plan the insurance companies will not dissolve. They will still be there to offer supplemental insurance as they already do to the seniors with Medicare. Unlike total nationalization this bill proposal would still leave them with some sense of solvency. But here’s the rub, they won’t be making such big profits anymore--- still profitable but not as huge. But that’s the battle line, simple as that --- Money. And let’s also redirect timetables. The present Healthcare bill wouldn’t have gone into effect until 2014. Do politicians realize they are not God? How many uninsured will die that could have been saved? This proposal has to be introduced by the end of the month and enacted by summer. Waiting longer will lose its impact and any hope for passage. It’s the common sense aspect that has been missing in any of Obama’s decisions. If fully explained, correctly, the American public will clamor for such a program. As for funding: Dare the Congress to find a way --- it’s their job. Finding funds is the easy part. The selling of it to the public should also be easy if done right. Obama could have done so much in the first year, instead he’d fallen into the same trap that the Clintons did --- Republican (and lobbyist) spins…..twisting the Truth. I’m not omniscient; I can admit to mistakes but I think that what I am proposing does make some sense. Let’s bring out the Audacity of Truth and not the Audacity of arrogance. --- Really, to propose a bill that would still leave millions of citizens without healthcare? Yes, the Audacity of Arrogance. We rush to aid victims throughout the world --- as we should. But we forget to save our own. The only part that is required by the President is the Strength, Courage, and Wisdom to act --- to realize the Truth. It all depends on what the President will do…. I say, let’s do this Mr. President. Show us your Courage.
