We, undersigned organizations and communities for democracy, human rights, peace, justice and tranquility in Burma reaffirm that emergence of immediate and genuine reconciliation among all ethno-religious and political groups before the 2010 elections in Burma as follows:

   1. We believed that there is no potentiality to resolve the current political, social and economic crises in Burma as the plan of the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) for 2010 election is absolutely undemocratic.

   2. The so-called election in 2010 is aimed to abolish the results of the 1990 election when the democratic opposition met a landslide victory with a view to legitimize the dictatorial power of military regime and put the ethnic nationalities in systematic impunity for human rights, equality and self-determination as well.

   3. It is also true that the regime is obviously stepping forward to committing crime against humanity through its brutal policy of controlling ethnic minority communities, while manipulating the political sphere in order to ensure their victory in 2010 election that based on the sham Constitution that was undemocratically drafted by military and forcibly ratified against the will of the people of Burma.

   4. The recent accusation against ethnic nationalities of bomb blast is undermining international observers and monitoring team on upcoming election, while ignoring of Burmese people, United Nations, European Union, United States, United Kingdom, ASEAN Members and others in International Community, to set free of all political prisoners including Nobel peace laureate and pro- democracy icon Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, U Tin Oo, U Khun Htun Oo, U Kyaw Min (aka) Mr. Shamsul Anwarul Hoque.

   5. The regime also continues the lawless imprisonment of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and ethnic party leaders through out oppression, rape, extra-judicial killing, arbitrary arrest, model village settlement, extortion, forced labor, forced eviction, freedom of worship and etc. and imprisonment of monks and political activists, playing a divide-and-rule tactics to obliterate the ceasefire and non-ceased fire ethnic forces and continuing atrocities against ethnic populations.

   6. Base on the denial of proposal for National Reconciliation, democratic changes, establishment of rights of ethnic nationalities, the regime has made clear that undemocratic plan of 2010 elections will neither lead to peace, development, genuine federalism, nor ensure basic rights for all people, including ethnic nationalities like Chin, Shan, Karen, Karenni, Pa-o, Palaung, Kuki, Rohingya, Naga and etc.

   7. We declare that we do not recognize this election and will boycott it by all means necessary and also urge upon the international community to be united in their supports for the will of the people of Burma and to act to stop this sham election to proceed until genuine national reconciliation is realized.
