The spies that turned to the cold
Herman Simm, the former Defense Ministry security chief arrested for selling military secrets, may not have been acting alone, a source has told The Baltic Times. The source, who worked in the British civil service in the ’90s, said that he knew an Estonian who had claimed asylum in the U.K. to escape pressure from the Russian secret service to steal Estonian secrets.
We are definitely returning to the Cold War days with the former Soviet democracies leading the circus!

Teachers failing!
Many primary school and kindergarten teacher can’t speak Estonian well enough to teach, according to a recent sampling. Ninety six out of 104 teachers from Tallinn kindergartens and Narva schools have failed Estonian language checks carried out by the Language Inspectorate. After extensive assessment the Language Inspectorate, a government institution under the jurisdiction of the Education Ministry, ordered all but eight of the teachers to take Estonian language exams.
Well, that says something very very worrying!

Fake IDs
The Police are investigating a case which involves widely used Estonian auction portal osta.ee trading with British fake ID’s. According to the product information, provided by the seller, the merchandise is very professionally made. Student and ID cards are made out of authentic material with electronic chips on them. The price of an ID is 999 kroons.
“If you have won the auction, send me your personal data and best quality photo, ID will be ready within 4-5 days plus shipping period from Britain” the seller promises. Chief detective of financial crimes, Rocco Ots, expresses that the police is definitely going to look into the case, “ we will not start a criminal investigation in the first place as the forgery itself takes place in Britain” Ots includes, “ though, Scotland Yard will be noticed”.
And all that to have a beer when you are still seventeen!

Talking about guns
Improved fire arm law allows a person with a license to train shooting to a teenager as well lowers the price for a fire arm permit. Youngest age to use a shotgun for practice is twelve. According to a counselor of Ministry of Internal Affairs, Marko Soll, hunter’s organizations have been lobbying and dreaming about such law for a long time. Hunter’s explanation is hunting culture needs to be developed and that it’s crucial that a hunter can train his son/daughter to shoot in a young age.
Police chief Ahti Olesk in the other hand is skeptical about the new law: “ a person should get a gun to addle when he/she is mature enough for it, at least 18 years old”. A new version of fire arm law also lowers the price of fire arm permit ten times, from 2000 to 200 kroons.
Unfortunately it is not a joke!
