I'm glad
That you are here
because who else
would bring love,
flowers
from her garden,
and bestow them
all around a life,
so unsettled,
like me.

"The poem... is a little myth of man's capacity of making life meaningful. And in the end, the poem is not a thing we see - it is, rather, a light by which we may see - and what we see is life." - Robert Penn Warren (Add a comment)
Indeed, the poem is not what is written on a piece of paper, a painting is not the paint on the canvas, a symphony is not the DVD on which it is imprinted but what is in the mind of the artist and its viewer, and that is why ultimately Art is indedefinable. Plato was suspicious of the poets for they were representing shadows in the cave lit by the fire and not the reality outside the cave. Tolstoy may have had it more on target: art is the torch we need to lit our way out of the cave.
