I will teach myself the new song;
I will not wait, I will not wail,
for those who sung and strung the tune.
I will sing it like I am the first;
I will summon ears that listen,
or those that ignore the call.
I will sing the new Zimbabwe song like I am the last,
even where some claim to have written the song,
even where others threaten to kill the song.
When some walk away and shun the tune,
when others deny the legend of the drum,
I will sing my song to the end of time.
