"Poets are mysterious, but a poet when all is said is not much more mysterious than a banker." - Allen Tate (Add a comment)
Quite right: T.S. Eliot was a banker for a while but that did not prevent him from writing poetry which for him was as necessary as air and in the end defined what he really was. Nobody would dream of placing on his tombstone: here lies a great banker. The real mystery is what makes some people think that a great banker, albeti one who writes verses, is the equivalent of a great poet. I suppose a partial answer may be found in Huxley's Brave New World.

I am a shadow
We are all just grey
Shades of grey
Our wishes are grey
The line between me and thee
Is forged in shadowy grey
Grey is more like grey
Wishless and content
