Echoes

These songs meant
So much to me once;
Songs discovered
In childhood years.

img_1099_2_street_dancer_400The years of tears,
And younger fears;
Pop songs,
Rock songs,
Glam-rock songs,
Rebel songs,
Blue songs.

The ember glowing
Flowing of the past
Trapped like coloured
Coral wrapped in glass.

Rapping cymbals,
And tambourines;
And the jingle-jangle
Of plucked guitar strings
And drumsticks
Caught in verses,
And lyrical reverses;
Twirled in hammock
Strings flapping in
The breeze like
A rebellious flag,
A pirate flag,
A black flag.

These songs meant
So much to me once;
Songs discovered
In childhood years.

Lost years,
Gold years,
Sad years,
Mad years,
Dead years.

That reverses
Like a sucking
Riptide,taking
The dead body
Of the past
Out to sea,
Revealing a
Hollow
Blackened
Void.

A healing void
That washes
The haunted
Fragments
And echoes
Of the past.

That ripples
On a gentle
Pond.

Our golden fears,
And welling tears,
A bygone age
Of joy and rage.

These songs meant
So much to me once;
Songs discovered
In childhood years.
