"The brotherhood of men does not imply their equality. Families have their fools and their men of genius, their black sheep and their saints, their worldly successes and their worldly failures. A man should treat his brothers lovingly and with justice, according to the deserts of each. But the deserts of every brother are not the same," so proclaimed Aldous Huxley, an English writer that even appeared on the album cover of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Huxley was right when he discusses the idea of brotherhood because if you think this is a terrible article, for example, then you are hardly going to blame my brother. This raises the question of Tony Rodham, the brother of Senator Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., who has been accused of failing to repay a loan and a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee has just asked a federal judge to schedule a new court date against him.

Firstly, did you know that Hillary Clinton has a brother? Secondly, the timing of this news story stinks of sabotage. Why should anybody be responsible for a sibling's mistakes just because they are famous or happen to have recently announced the formation of a presidential exploratory committee for the United States presidential election of 2008?

Was Emilio Estevez accountable for his brother's exploits when it was revealed that Martin Sheen used prostitutes and was addicted to cocaine in the 1990s? Was Ralf Schumacher forced to defend himself whenever Michael forgot the meaning of sportsmanship? Do Phil and Gary Neville continually apologise for the other's lack of skill on a football pitch? Does Jeb Bush spend every waking minute explaining the actions of his older brother President George W. Bush?

After Cane killed Abel in the opening scenes of The Bible, I don't recall Seth having to answer for the "first murder" and if this isn't transferable, where does that leave Hillary Clinton? She was certainly not responsible for her husband lying during a grand jury testimony, which eventually led to Bill Clinton becoming the second U.S. president to be impeached. If emerged unscathed from that, the why should she be facing questions about her little brother's antics?

While Jimmy Carter was running for president, his younger brother Billy was quoted saying, “My mother went into the Peace Corps when she was sixty-eight. My one sister is a motorcycle freak, my other sister is a Holy Roller evangelist and my brother is running for president. I'm the only sane one in the family.” I am sure it was gratifying for President Carter to then face questions about his 'sane' brother's dealings with the Libyan government, a $220,000 loan and a Senate hearing.

Thankfully, not all brother relationships are rocky, such as my own. Okay, Noel and Liam Gallagher have had a few public feuds, but look at the success the Brother's Grimm, Orville and Wilbur Wright, the Bee Gees and even the unrelated Righteous Brothers. It appears that the article has leant heavily towards brothers, yet sisters have had their fair share of sibling embarrassment…just look at what Nicky Hilton has to cope with in the form of Paris.
