The door opened without a sound. The light was dim, and hundreds of signal lights flickered uniformly around many transparent dome containers. Control screens sparkled reading endless series of information.

With resolute steps she walked through the aisle between the rows of containers, with her gaze fixed on a rotating red alarm light in the back of the room.

She anxiously read the information on the screen connected with container. All parameters were deranged. A domed container was partially blurred, and the temperature of the sample was elevated.

            - This is not good - she thought - Third deviation despite the corrections.

She carefully checked the previous correction.

            - This will be the last attempt. If in the next observational period sample characteristics will be in any further collapse, I will have to inform the others.

With a lot of patience she calmly created new parameters - avoiding the previous values, which didn't provide results. She didn't rush. This sample was a prototype and thanks to it they knew how to improve the self-sustainability of each subsequent colony.

She managed to reduce the temperature in the container and run the positive fluctuation. She reduced the possibility of deviation to the minimum and launched a new era of monitoring.

tech01_400            The door opened without a sound. Rotating red alarm light glowed in the back of the room. With heavy steps she walked through the aisle between the rows of containers. She anxiously read the information.

            - I failed - she thought sadly - It's time to tell the others...

They came one by one, in their recognizable clothing, with their expressionless and timeless faces. In silence, they gathered around the domed container.

            - The third period? - Asked one of them.

They all knew the answer. They only gathered when it was necessary to make a final decision.

            - It's time to destroy the sample - concluded the second.

He tried to speak softly, but his voice still sounded like a thunder, causing a slight vibration to the containers around.

            - But this is a prototype - she protested - We can learned so much from it...

            - You know the rules - said the third - Three monitoring periods.

            - Anyway - she continued - maybe we can fix something. It's been a long time since we create it ... After all, this time we can't just turn it off.

            - Time? - Roared one of them, waving his enormous fists - as if that means something to us. Time is endless.

            - Yes, for us - she confirmed - For the samples, time is the most important.

            - Then let's say, for this sample time is up. Rules are set at the beginning. Three negative period and the sample will be annulled. Applies to all samples.

She looked at the others in the expectation of support.

            - What would you like to do? - Asked the oldest of them.

            - Temperature grows only in one part - she continued - and then the sample begins to destabilize and there is an imbalance. The particles leave the primary environment.

            - Particles are not defined with the primary environment. They can be customized - he said.

            - Yes, in smaller quantities. This is massive.

            - Then what are we talking about?! - Big-hands roared again - Imbalance destroys the sample!

            - And whose fault is that?! - She said angrily - If each of you wasn't fumbled with the prototype, this would have never happened! But, no! You had to play! You had to insert all that occurred to you! And now you're giving up!

            - It was planned that way! The prototype served as a test! It fulfilled its purpose and it's time to turn it off! It is obvious, there is no use from it!

            - Maybe I can save part of the sample ... To move it to another environment...

            - Save?! Look at the container! It is blurred! Everything inside is destabilized and infected!

She looked at the others in hope.

            - You know, he's right - whispered one with a strong voice - There's nothing to save.

            - I can try ... - she continued confidently.

            - Rules! - Roared the big-hands and slammed his fist on the container.

            - Thor! - She screamed in horror.

The bluish gas was coming out through the crack in the container. In a panic, she covered the crack with her hands, trying to stop the unstoppable. She could feel the pain that invades from the container. She knew that others feel it too. The crack become bigger and container exploded. She stood appalled, hands filled with debris.

They left, one by one, in their recognizable clothing, with their expressionless and timeless faces. Janus, Zeus, Osiris, Odin, Viracocha, Yocahu, Amma, Tangaloa, Pachmama, Vishnu ...

            Without turning ... Without words...

            - Calm down Aphrodite - said Thor over his shoulder - You've got dozens of useful containers here.

She glanced down at the debris. One tear slid down her cheek.

The sample called Earth slowly turned into ashes.

 ****************************************************

I sad dižete ruke!
