My Epirus

How I
Yearn to
Return
To my
Ancestral
Abode.

img_1162_400My,
Heaven,
My
Home,
My
Jerusalem.

Amongst
The
Conifers
And
And fir
Trees.

The
Rugged
Mountain
Ranges of
Epirus
Brushed
With Virgin
Green
Forests;
As if
God
Were
An
Artist
And
Used
Broad
Green
Brushstrokes.

How I
Yearn for
The delicious
Yellow flavour
Of corn-on-the-cob
Dancing,cooking
Over flickering
Flames;
Licking the
Oregano
Lemon
Scented
Pork-chops
And corn
Bread with
Its orange
Fingers.

As
Children
Play under
Church
Bells on
Highland
Village
Squares.

Tendrils
Of smoke
Escaping
From
Rustic
Stone
Chimneys;
Mingling
With sounds
Of buzzing
Chainsaws.

As
Herbal
Green
Forest
Fragrances
Drift:
Ascend
And
Descend
Over
This
Heavenly
Abode.

At
The end
Of my days;
Return me
To my
Mother's
Embrace.

To be
Entombed
Within the
Sweet
Brown
Embrace
Of her
Moist
Soft
Earth.

How I
Yearn to
Return
To my
Ancestral
Abode.

My,
Heaven,
My
Home,
My
Jerusalem.

My
Epirus.
