Autumn means rainy days, cinema and music evenings. So this is going to be a movie and music month and the Ovi magazine internet choices are going to be all about movies and first listen music

Site of the month: 5 second films

5-Second Films is a vertically-branded viral humor depository, delivering original commercial content to shareholders and upwardly mobile males 18-35 with disposable income since October 30th, 2008. Utilizing multiple social media outlets such as Twitter, Facebook and Friendster, 5-Second Films (5SF on the NYSE) has engineered a high level of Google clickthroughs thanks to festival appearances at the San Diego Comi-Con and South by Southwest and television appearances on humor-delivery youth-driven programs such as Tosh.0 and Attack of the Show! 5-Second Films is based in Los Angeles and is available for public speaking events, corporate retreats and guest lectures to graduating university students.

Site: NPR First Listen

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone let you listen to great music before it hit stores? Meet NPR’s First Listen, the place to pre-hear everything from fresh movie soundtracks to your favorite indie band’s latest to artists playing styles of music you’ve never heard before (say, “Saharan guitar rock”). You have to keep on top of street dates, of course — once those pass, the audio (by necessity) disappears — but NPR typically rolls things out a week in advance, letting you listen during the interim as many times as you like.

Site: filmsite

This site was created in May 1996 by Tim Dirks. As of September 2008, it came under the umbrella of American Movie Classics (AMC) LLC, owned by Rainbow Media Holdings, LLC, a subsidiary of Cablevision Systems Corporation. As of July 1, 2011, Cablevision spun off its Rainbow Networks unit, creating a new company called AMC Networks, Inc. The new AMC Networks entity owns and operates the channels AMC, WE tv, IFC, Sundance Channel and AMC/Sundance Global, plus IFC Entertainment, an independent film business. Tim Dirks authors, edits, and manages Filmsite.

Blog of the month: Roger Ebert

Welcome to the new RogerEbert.com, the world’s preeminent destination for movie criticism, commentary and community. It is with a mix of great sadness and genuine excitement that we bring you this new site, the product of a two-year collaboration between Ebert Digital, run by Roger Ebert, Chaz Ebert and Josh Golden, and web development partner Table XI. Roger was an innovator in so many ways. From democratizing movie criticism and bringing it to a more mainstream audience, to publishing his reviews to Compuserve at the dawn of the Internet, Roger was always pushing the envelope. It was a great challenge to develop a product that would meet his exacting standards, but he loved the site when he last saw it, and we’ll do our best to continue to develop something he’d be proud of.

Over the coming months, we’ll add content and features to the site, including an enhanced version of Roger’s fan club, the Ebert Club, integrated mobile apps, and broader inclusion of video on the site. In the meantime, we hope you’ll enjoy this collection of more than four decades’ worth of content written by Roger and his handpicked team of collaborators, searchable and explorable like never before.
